Saving the DW Structure as XML?

According to, admittedly rather dated, information I have found on the net, the Save As File option for saving DW objects as XML is a relic of PB 9 and there is no way to do so  programmatically with Powerscript or by using Orca. Is this information still valid? Are there perhaps other attempts in this direction, especially while using standardised XML schemas?
