Hi Gurus,

We are planning to use PDF feature provided by PowerBuilder and using the "PostScript". As in PowerBuilder compatibility list, it is mentioned that ghostscript can be used along with PowerBuilder. Product Compatibilities Table

Software Products Tested with PowerBuilder Software Type or Product Compatibility Description Application servers

PowerBuilder Classic has been tested with EAServer 6.3.1. SQL Anywhere PowerBuilder 12.6 has been tested with SQL Anywhere 16.0. PowerDesigner PowerBuilder 12.6 has been tested with PowerDesigner® 15.3 ESD #9. Microsoft .NET Framework PowerBuilder .NET and PowerBuilder Classic are compatible with Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 and 4.5. Ghostscript :

The Datawindow Save As PDF feature has been tested with AFPL Ghostscript version 8.60.

I just need to know that in case we use gostscript with our application, do we need to pay for ghostscript licensing or it's already paid by PowerBuilder while using "PostScript" functions of ghostscript.

After referring to License information from Artifex, I assume PowerBuilder must have obtained a commercial license for ghostscript and we don't need any additional license from ghostscript. I request you to let me us know so that we can take necessary steps..

http://www.artifex.com/page/licensing-information.html

Which says" If your application (including its source code) is NOT licensed to the public under the AGPL and you intend to distribute Ghostscript or MuPDF to a third party for use with and usable by your application, or to allow your users to remotely interact with AGPL Ghostscript and AGPL MuPDF along with your application, you MUST first obtain a commercial license from Artifex"

The GS License cost is $25,000 + 25cents for each client.

It's really a lot of money just for using PDF.

I know with PB2017, it will be inbuilt but what if we don't use PB2017.

So Gurus, do anyone know a better Royalty Free PDF component that is cheap (say in $500/-) and can be integrated easily with no future compatibility headaches.

I did some research with PDFCreator and with feedback, I found that they do major changes with their new release and due to that the new PDFCreator version is not always compatible and the dependent application need code changes with every release, which is very frustrating.

your suggestion will be appreciated.

Thanks

Ramendra
