We have been hosting our application as a service for a short time on an old Dell Server on Windows Server 2008 R2 and recently our business expanded and we decided to buy some 12th Generation Dell R620 Servers to boost performance.
We got a reasonable powerful R620 with dual processors, lots of memory, faster disks - even an SSD to run from when we needed real speed. And it now runs about 20% slower on intense processes on Windows 2012 Server than it did on the old box. We've been fiddling with configuration and Bios Performance to no avail.
Every benchmark we run on the new server shows 4X or more in every category - yet PB with SQLAnywhere just dogs along.
The best we can tell is that Microsoft has deprecated support for 32 Bit ODBC and 32 Bit applications in general - and if that the case we are hosed.
I have a second box coming and I will put Server 2008 R2 on it to see if the OS is the Killer.
Has anyone else seen this and have any ideas?
When on earth are we going to see a PB 15 Classic with 64 Bit Support???? Even a beta to test...
