Stopping DDDW from dropping down automatically when user tabs into column

I have a data window with many rows and columns. Most of the columns have DDDW's. All of these DDDW's have been retrieved using a child datawindow retrieval.

The problem is when a user is trying to tab thru the columns, every datawindow drops down soon as you tab into the column. I have no properties set other than a horizontal and vertical scroll. But users are accidentally changing data.

What I want is a use to be able to tab into a column and the dropdown does not display unless they click the arrow.
